Real Madrid Star, Cristiano Ronaldo could spend up at 15 months in jail
following claims Spanish prosecutors are considering bringing charges
against him on allegations of tax fraud.
Spanish media reports that the Real Madrid superstar had allegedly defrauded the authorities of 15 million euros ($16.7 million) between 2011 and 2014.
Prosecutors said Thursday they have until the end of June to decide whether to charge the Real Madrid star with fraud, based on evidence from an investigation by tax officials.
Ronaldo, 32, is being accused of defrauding the taxman by hiding funds from his image rights and other endorsements through offshore accounts in the Virgin Islands.
The Portugal captain has denied the charges, although tax officials said he adjusted his tax declarations and paid an extra 6 million euros ($6.7 million) in 2014.
